The University of Nigeria Alumni Association UK Foundation

The University of Nigeria Alumni Association UK Foundation (UNAA-UK Foundation) is an incorporated charity dedicated to advancing and supporting the education of students at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and its campuses – and, more broadly, contributing to educational development in Nigeria.

Founded by UNN alumni based in the United Kingdom, the Foundation is outward-looking and inclusive. While our roots lie in the shared history and pride of UNN graduates, our mission is far-reaching: to benefit a wide cross-section of both the UK and Nigerian public. We warmly welcome anyone – alumni or not – who shares our vision, values, and commitment to empowering students through education.

More About Us

We believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and building stronger communities. By connecting alumni, supporters, and partners across borders, we aim to provide opportunities, resources, and support that will help students achieve their full potential.

What We Do

The UNAA-UK Foundation advances education in a variety of practical and impactful ways:

Academic Engagement and Collaboration

We liaise and collaborate with UNN faculties and departments to organise lectures, workshops, and seminars on topics of practical educational value, giving students insights beyond the classroom.

Facilitating Internships

We help create internship opportunities for current students, enabling them to gain hands-on experience that supports their academic and professional development.

Providing Educational Resources

We supply textbooks, learning materials, and other resources to UNN libraries, resource centres, and community hubs. These hubs are especially valuable in inspiring younger students to aim for higher education. We also facilitate donations from other institutions, such as UK universities, to support UNN.

Supporting Disabled Students

We work to reduce the barriers faced by disabled students by:

  1. Running disability support and awareness sessions on campus.
  2. Advocating for policies that ensure their needs are fully understood by staff and administrators.
  3. Providing specialist equipment such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, visual aids, and other assistive devices.

Grants and Scholarships

We offer grants, scholarships, and bursaries to students who meet specific academic or socio-economic criteria, helping to remove financial barriers to education.

Welfare and Wellbeing Support

We provide guidance, advice, and resources to support both the welfare and mental wellbeing of staff and students.

Our Vision

A future where every Nigerian student — regardless of background or ability — has equal access to quality education, the resources to excel, and the opportunity to shape a better world.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to empowering students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and across Nigeria by removing barriers to learning and creating opportunities for growth. Through scholarships, internships, educational resources, disability support, and alumni partnerships, we equip students with the tools, confidence, and skills they need to thrive academically, professionally, and socially — so they can go on to make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.
